The founder of the International Assistance Dog Center T.A.R.S.Q® is Luca Barrett. Mrs. Barrett has for many years dedicated herself to the serious training of assistance dogs as reliable help for those who require it. She places a lot of value on fair and honest advice for those in need of an assistance dog, as well as on the qualitative, high-quality training of the dogs themselves. She maintains partnerships with assistance dog trainers worldwide and regularly visits large, well-known assistance dog organizations all over the world, in order to exchange expertise and follow innovations in the assistance dog field.
Mrs. Barrett has suffered from type 1 diabetes since she was young. Due to a physical disability caused by an accident, she relies on crutches and a wheelchair. In the field of assistance dogs, Luca Barrett is seen in many areas as a pioneer. It is thanks to her courage and unshakable spirit, and her desire to change something for the better for those affected by disabilities, that diabetes alert dogs could be brought to Germany in 2007, and that the training of PTSD assistance dogs was begun for the first time in Europe at the International Assistance Dog Center T.A.R.S.Q®. Without Mrs. Barrett's dedication and the unparalleled role she has played, there would likely still not be any diabetes alert dogs in Germany or any PTSD assistance dogs in Europe, as evidenced by the current situation in many European countries.

In her work as an assistance dog trainer, Luca Barrett has worked with more than 500 assistance dogs of all types and tested more than 5000 puppies and adult dogs for their suitability as assistance dogs.
